Delicious! I reduce the maple syrup to 1/4 loving cup and add 1/4 cup of Sweet Babe Ray'southward Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ sauce for a little chip of smokiness.
03/27/2010
This recipe was just.....ok. It was a little on the sweet side. If I make this again, I might use less maple syrup. I besides added one chopped onion to the mix.
03/23/2010
I am supposed to give this v stars. Fifty-fifty though I made it for a night I had to work for the family. My BF loved it!!! And then did my kids (they can exist hard to please) The kids even ate information technology all. So aye this is a keeper in my book! Instead of rolls I fabricated home fabricated bread in the bread motorcar to put it onto.
12/01/2010
This was delicious! As other reviewers suggested, I cut the maple syrup downward to 1/iv cup and added 1/4 cup bottled BBQ sauce (I used Stubbs). I used 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts only all the same used the total amount of sauce called for the ensure the chicken did non dry out. I cooked mine on high and they were done in three 1/two hours. I served this with whole wheat tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese and lettuce. Thanks for the delicious and like shooting fish in a barrel recipe!
03/31/2010
Recipe worked well. Was sweetness for a BBQ sauce if your interested in a more tangy spicy flavor. I would try with a cheaper cut of meat such every bit a pork end or craven thighs/legs. The idea of braising meat in a crockpot such every bit this recipe usually allows for the fat of the meat to work into the flavors.
03/27/2010
This really was quite tasty...I rolled up the shredded craven in warm flour tortillas...kids loved it! Serve along with a well-baked green salad and dinner is on!
03/25/2010
The sauce I didn't recollect have a real BBQ flavor. I concluded up adding about a bottle of Caput Land BBQ sauce. The one thing i did like is how it gave information technology spice. I would make information technology again, it was however delicious.
04/xv/2010
Very expert recipe. My husband and thirteen twelvemonth old son loved it. Had ingredients on hand and was very easy and good. Did cut back on the syrup due to other reviews stating was too sweet. Was worried that it would be to spicey with the pepper and hot sauce, but it was just perfect. Thank y'all for the recipe.
05/18/2012
Awesome! This could non be easier to make. Perfect for days when yous're going to be out most of the day. Just throw in the crock pot and forget almost information technology for hours. The sauce is on the sugariness side, which is peachy if y'all similar information technology, merely easy enough to cut back on the maple syrup if yous don't. The chicken came out perfectly, not at all dry like I was concerned nigh. One of the all-time all around recipes I've tried in a while.
03/22/2011
Great recipe! I didn't even bother to thaw the chicken breasts, just threw them in frozen and they turned out great. I took the advice of other reviewers and cut the maple syrup to i/four loving cup, added a cup of bbq sauce and half an onion, sliced. I besides added 1 tablespoon of cornstarch during the last 60 minutes of cooking to thicken upwards the sauce.
04/04/2010
This was ok. Non great, but ok. I think we'd have been better off merely throwing the meat in with BBQ sauce over it. It needed more sauce as information technology dried out fast.
eleven/06/2011
I wouldn't say this is what I think of when I retrieve 'pulled bbq chicken' but it'south withal Really skilful!! Similar other reviewers, I modify it up a bit -- I use i/iv cup brown sugar instead of maple syrup and 1/4 cup bbq sauce (we like Sweetness Baby Ray'due south). I also add a small onion, a clove or two of garlic, and a scrap of liquid fume. I'm not very patient so I ordinarily terminate up cooking it on high for iii-iv hours instead of low for half dozen...it seems to piece of work but fine. Super piece of cake and good leftover likewise -- actually maybe better after information technology has time to thicken a bit!
06/xviii/2010
As a newlywed, I'm always looking for new recipes and this 1 is a hit. Absolutely amazing! Easy to cook and easy to eat! I am currently fixing it for the second time.
04/03/2011
This was allright. Non the best BBQ I've had, only certainly acceptable for a weeknight meal. The sauce is star quality and non at all likewise sweet. It is probably one of the best I've had (non THE best, but very practiced). It was the texture that was off-putting to me. There is a fine line betwixt perfectly cooked and overcooked (slow-cooked) chicken. I think six hours, even on low, is far too long to slow cook already tender chicken breasts. I'd similar to try this again, but on a weekend and so that my chicken cooks / sits in the crockpot for no longer than 4 hours (mine cooked for vi and sat for 6). I really retrieve this is why my chicken'due south texture was "off." Served on sesame kaiser rolls with sweet pickles, BBQ kettle chips and Mike's Hard Lemonade, this was a yummy repast. Thanks SHELDAWG! :-)
03/18/2011
Fantastic! I dear the sauce for this recipe and would even use it any time I need a quick bbq sauce. Information technology's tangy and just a bit sweetness and very zesty. I added a flake of cornstarch to the sauce but before serving in social club to thicken it up a scrap more, but otherwise changed zilch. We had it over chocolate-brown rice, simply it would exist practiced topping for a baked potato likewise. This is a versatile recipe that I know I'll be making over again some time. Cheers.
04/06/2011
Made as is and served over rice. Will put in buns equally suggested next fourth dimension.
10/17/2012
The original is Mode too sugariness. I thought information technology had potential though and so I tried again with a finely chopped onion, only ii Tbsp of maple syrup, 1 tsp chopped garlic instead of powder, and 1 tsp. Wright's Natural Hickory Seasoning. Information technology was very good once it was tweaked but the 3-stars are for the original. Being gluten-intolerant, of course, I skipped the buns simply this is very good equally a master dish.
01/09/2012
But had this for dinner tonight. Wow!! I used it for bbq chicken stuffed baked potatoes and topped it with sour cream, cheese, and chives. My husband and girl loved information technology. I loved it because I threw it all in the crock pot, baked some potatoes, and it came out perfect. It took me well-nigh 5 minutes of prep time total.
03/25/2011
was really good as is, but as well sweet. i will cut dorsum the amount of syrup next time (past a lot), just the overall BBQ taste is right on- and being from Texas, I know BBQ :)
12/16/2014
This recipe is cracking as is. Everyone I have ever served it to loves it just as originally described. Don't become caught upward in all the comments and start changing things. Just endeavor it outset! Putting in store bought BBQ sauce makes it something it'southward not intended to exist. Serve on Kaiser Rolls with breadstuff and butter pickles and you'll run across what I hateful.
03/22/2011
Very sugariness merely and then good! I was worried about the maple syrup simply it was delicious!! It actually wasn't as spicy as I thought it was gonna exist and then we added some sliced serrano peppers on top as well as purple onion! Served on an onion bun. Thanks!
xi/06/2010
Loved it and everyone that tried it loved it. I prep the night before and in the morning I popped information technology in the slow cooker and went to piece of work, came home for dinner pause and information technology was perfect! Took it to my man for his dinner and he had enough to share with a couple of his buddys and they loved information technology too, I did alter it upward a little, I utilise left over BBQ sauce that I had and and so added everything else.
10/21/2011
.The chicken was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was bland as bland can be. I will apply this method for cooking chicken BBQ again, but I volition not apply the sauce. I had to put a ton of Tabasco on the sandwich to even get any flavor. I ended up eating all the leftovers because my son and married man were not interested after the outset time trying it.
10/08/2010
This recipe is wonderful! I've made it several times and the chicken turns out perfect each time. I dearest the sweetness and spice combination (although I double the cayenne amount, I like information technology more spicey). Thanks for this great recipe!!!
04/27/2011
Dave, the high carb count isnt from 1/two a chicken chest. Yous can hands reduce your carb by using some sugar complimentary items for the maple syrup, brown sugar and ketchup.
x/18/2012
I fabricated this for supper tonight and had a very hard fourth dimension waiting for my husband to get domicile from work!!! I halved the maple syrup and added some smoked paprika and onion powder and it was simply perfect! I served it over some grain-gratuitous biscuits. It was simply the 2 of us and in that location is not much left over, it was so practiced. I volition exist making this often!
04/03/2011
This is a really practiced recipe, Information technology is a little spicy so when I fabricated the second batch of BBQ sauce I added about 1/four-1/2 cup of brown carbohydrate. It made a sweet and tangy sauce. Definitely needs to have some cornstarch to get it thickened as the sauce is a piddling sparse otherwise. Overall, Very yummy and fantastic for a BBQ, or if yous need to take something in for a Potluck dinner.
07/thirteen/2010
Made this the other dark using chicken thighs instead of breasts. I also cut the maple syrup a trivial and added some cider vinegar. Came out just ok, I concord with others that say it needs a little "something" just can't put my finger on what information technology is. Might make again, was like shooting fish in a barrel and had all ingredients on manus
04/eighteen/2010
An easy recipe to make. A little runny (could accept been the frozen chix breast that I used). Kids enjoyed this repast every bit well has hubby!
x/29/2010
This was very good and sooo piece of cake! My family loved it and I had all the ingredients on hand to make it. I will definately arrive again.
01/09/2015
Good stuff. Existence from NC, I dear vinegar based BBQ, and so I greatly reduced the amount of ketchup and replaced it with cider vinegar. I maintained the residue of the recipe because it looked so interesting—many more flavors added than I generally use, but they all blended together nicely. Keeping this recipe!!!!
07/02/2012
This was wonderful. I didn't accept maple syrup on hand and so I added i tablespoon of sugar equally a substitute. I will definintely make this over again.
eleven/22/2010
This was awesome and oh then easy!!!
06/24/2010
Not happy with this. Anybody said it was good, but I had to change the sauce at the end and do "my own matter". I won't proceed this recipe. Deplorable.
02/15/2013
Nosotros love this and have it at to the lowest degree twice a calendar month! Merely a few pocket-size changes: cut the maple syrup to 1/4 loving cup and add 1/iv BBQ sauce, and for the terminal 1/2 hour, after the chicken is shredded, switch to cooking on high. This will thicken upwardly the sauce and then it won't come running out of your bun or tortilla.
10/10/2011
Way too salty...cut back on that and it'd be great!
06/01/2011
It's easy to make and yummy. I just beautiful downward from maple syrup because i don't like too sweetness foods.
04/28/2011
Used this recipe when I made BBQ chicken for the first time and it is very like shooting fish in a barrel and tastes bully, it was a hit with everyone!!
09/30/2010
This is then proficient so easy. My daughter (Miss Picky Eater) loved it. A lilliputian too much spice for my wife. I will be making it again soon! Thanks Sheldawg.
11/fourteen/2010
And so easy and succulent. Served information technology over rice and it was a big hit. Yum!
04/21/2010
It was good. I made a error and added 2 tablespoons of lemon juice instead of teaspoons. My family unit liked it. My choosy son LOVED it. Fabricated macaroni salad to go with it. It needs something else, only I'm not competent in the kitchen to be able to say what. Smokey BBQey something. I volition go far again though.
03/11/2012
This was fabulous! Like others, I cut the maple syrup to 1/4 c. and added a ane/4 c. bbq sauce and a splash of liquid fume. I was going to be out all solar day so I left information technology on low for around ten hours. I served it over rice and the kids loved it!
03/01/2015
The sauce was easy to make and the chicken shredded nicely. However, it was overwhelmingly sweet. For next fourth dimension I'll probably drop the maple syrup down to a tablespoon or two or just substitute a tablespoon or two of brown sugar.
09/25/2010
Super quick preparation. Perfect for an Autumn dinner or football Saturday. Yum!
04/25/2012
I gave it only iv stars because I made some adjustments. Instead of using syrup I used a one/4 C dark-brown sugar. I did not have any Chili pulverisation or Cayenne pepper. I used a little more than than ii dashes of Hot sauce to brand upward for the missing ingredients. I put this in the crockpot on high for iii 1/2 hours, which was well-nigh a twenty minutes to a half hour likewise long on high because the edges started burning. All the same, what I was able to salvage, which was a rather large office of it, was delicious! This is a keeper for me.
01/21/2015
So And then good! I did make some slight changes due to what I had in my fridge. I used lite syrup(I recollect that might take helped with information technology not being as well sweetness) soy sauce instead of worshtishire, lime juice instead of lemon. Lastly half Dijon mustard/yellow mustard. Information technology was perfectly counterbalanced. Not as well sugariness, a good amount of heat and tang. We will definetly use this recipe again with the variations !!
05/eleven/2015
Awesome!! Instead of one total cup of ketchup, I used ½ ketchup & ½ bbq sauce.
ten/19/2012
I'm distressing for being i of those guys that alters a recipe and and so rates the original...busted. OK, so I used iii giant breasts, plus they fit in the big cooker (not my puny one). I used NO SALT ketchup, Reduced common salt Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mixed with yellow mustard, a splash of white wine, Some diced Garlic and sliced red onion besides. Added a loving cup of TJ'south BBQ sauce (doesn't use HFCS). I did use about one/8 loving cup sugar gratis maple syrup likewise (I need to get some organic maple syrup from TJ's for next time). The seasonings and hot sauce DO add some zing to information technology. Probably skilful as written, better for ME the ways I altered it.
12/27/2010
This came out very good. Easy to put together
xi/01/2012
We have enjoyed this several times now. Nosotros utilise a footling less maple syrup and also add some depression-table salt chicken broth so that information technology doesn't dry up in the slow cooker. Super delicious and would be good with coleslaw on the bun like pulled pork! I prefer this to pulled pork any 24-hour interval!
x/30/2012
I made it in the oven broiled 350F for an 60 minutes, shredded chicken easily, added some store bought BBQ and information technology was good and likewise a good leftover. Thanks!
04/21/2013
used 1/four cup brownish sugar instead of maple syrup. Very adept.
08/17/2011
Kids actually liked information technology. Merely cooked in simply few hours
07/ten/2011
I liked this recipe, simply my married man thought information technology was just ok. I would make information technology once more, but would maybe change upwards the sauce a little scrap and so hopefully my husband would get on board. It was definitely an easy recipe which is very overnice to take sometimes.
05/02/2011
I loved the flavor of this! Ours turned out tangy, so we were defenseless a little off guard but it really was succulent. Side by side time I won't cook the chicken as long.
02/04/2015
Made this for dinner tonight. Loved that I could command the rut every bit I don't like overly spicy nutrient. Hubby forgot to plow it on at apex so I cooked information technology on high for 3.5 hours instead of low for 6 and turned out only fine. Will be making information technology again Just perchance with a little creamy coleslaw on peak next time.
ten/13/2014
This was simply delicious. I did make a suggested change because of the amount of reviews stating how sweet the sauce was even subsequently cutting the syrup down to ane/iv loving cup. And then I only added a pinch of syrup. You could prob. cut the syrup out altogether only the sauce was just correct....not as well sweet, not too tangy. (although I really like tang.) I also added most i/two a chopped onion to the sauce. Also, it came apart in the crockpot so hands. The recipe came out wonderful. A definite keeper!
09/09/2015
I made this today for a family become together. It was piece of cake and delicious. I started with one-half the maple syrup as others accept suggested and, after tasting, decided to not add the additional ane/4 loving cup. I will definitely make this again!.
06/thirty/2011
I haven't fixed this recipe as is, but I do make a like one. We add onion, butter and vinegar. We also use a whole chicken and boil it for 30 minutes to reduce the fat it the tedious cooker. We consume it every bit is the outset night and pick out the bones. Once information technology is cooled, I sift out the bones and freeze the leftovers for sandwiches another night. Thought this might aid people who idea information technology was to sweet or runny. (Plus, I happen to like seeing peoples changes. They help me arrange recipes to my families tastes.)
08/xiii/2010
This turned out really good! I was unsure if it would be too runny but as presently equally you shred the chicken, information technology soaks it right up.
08/xx/2014
I probably had this on depression for virtually 8 hours or so . . .I put it together with frozen craven breasts the night earlier, kept information technology all in the crock in the fridge, and had my husband put it in the dull cooker this morning, then switched information technology to warm and shredded the craven in the crock when I got domicile. I tasted it and thought it needed something, but figured I'd wait for the bbq lover (AKA my hubby) to gustatory modality information technology and encounter if he thought it needed annihilation. He thought it was good equally is, so I left it alone. While mixing the sauce, I did double the sauce itself, halve the maple syrup, and added garlic powder and liquid smoke (probably near iii tablespoons of the liquid smoke--no, I didn't mean to add together that much, but it seems to have worked). I served information technology on Hawaiian rolls with cheese and hubs enjoyed it. This did have what seemed to me a lot of leftovers, but I'one thousand giving some to a friend to attempt and we'll put the rest over baked potatoes old this week. I liked that this didn't use bottled bbq sauce every bit well--a not bad recipe when I'm out of it in the firm and don't feel like picking up whatever. I as well think cooking in the slow cooker makes the sauce a chip runny, but after shredding the chicken I thought it mixed together simply fine. Thanks for the recipe!
01/24/2012
Very Tasty. My girlfriend doesn't eat pork anymore, but admittedly loved this recipe and said it tasted like real pulled pork!
x/26/2011
It was just "okay" just I recollect with piece of work and a few simple changes, it could turn out meliorate. I used Jack Daniels Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce and a 1/2 a cup of calorie-free syrup...possibly that's where my sauce went wrong..My son loved information technology.
04/30/2011
This recipe is easy and very tasty. I used a beef roast and added liquid smoke to the sauce mixture. Actually, actually skillful!!!
04/20/2010
I cut back a bit on the ketchup and syrup. At the end of the cooking period I added in some bbq sauce. It turned out slap-up!
03/01/2012
My picky 9 year old loved it. Information technology was yummy
07/24/2011
Fabricated this to take yummy sandwiches on hand while wine tasting and it was such a hit! Spooned the goopey-BBQey-goodness into torta rolls while still hot and and then wrapped in tin can foil. After virtually 2hrs of vino tasting busted the sandwiches out and have to say, everyone was very satisfied. I wanted to give it 3.v stars because information technology was really really adept just I think next time effectually I may just nada the maple syrup all together and use a couple tablespoons of love instead. The sauce was a little banal for me but I recollect after dressing it upwardly a bit this volition be bomb-dot-com.
03/21/2011
This is adept but i think its to sugariness. When i made it i really didnt think of BBQ craven. just then craven its self was good and but roughshod autonomously.
07/23/2014
I could non follow this recipe to a T, because I did non take enough maple syrup. I added a little bit of brown sugar and some store bought sweetness barbecue sauce. The chief thing I did not like near this recipe is that information technology tasted way as well salty for me... However fairly adept, but I volition await for some other similar recipe to tweak.
07/03/2015
I only had 3 craven breasts, so I adjusted some ingredients. I used 3/4 loving cup catsup, 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard, 1 1/ii tsp lime juice--I didn't have lemon juice & substitute references said apply a little less if substituting with lime juice. Used piddling less than 1/2 cup maple syrup, used ane 1/2 tsp Worchestershire sauce and added 1/two cup frozen chopped onions and remaining ingredients every bit listed. I only had a couple flour tortillas to serve them in and information technology was bang-up! My married man is a very picky eater & he really liked information technology. I will exist making this many times in the future.
06/21/2013
Absolutely succulent! I reduced the maple syrup to one/four c, omitted the cayenne pepper, added a few more than dashes of hot sauce and out came the best tangiest bbq sauce ever! I served in difficult taco shells topped with melted cheddar cheese. My fiance keeps asking when I am going to make information technology again! Give thanks you for the recipe :)
10/20/2013
My married man made this. Everyone actually liked it. Instead of the maple syrup he used 1/4c. Honey & 1/4c. Bbq sauce. It's got excellent flavor every bit it was or it could easily be spiced upwards.
03/22/2015
Delicious but following other recs, reduced maple syrup to 1/iv cup.
03/03/2011
dear this - browned chicken breasts in olive oil in frying pan first...excellent and my kids all dearest information technology! I serve with rice instead of breadstuff.
03/31/2015
Succulent!
06/15/2015
I really enjoyed how like shooting fish in a barrel this was to make, did not have to go out and buy specific ingredients but to use once! Will make again for sure.
01/12/2015
i have made this 6 times in a yr..its now get my family and friends favorite and enquire that i make it for potlucks and gathering here at our habitation. (i tell them its my secrete recipe)..shhhh...its our i mean my secrete!! its an easy easy delicious recipe. . i make up the sauce ahead of time and make double for a prep for my crock pot. Ive made this in my over on low and simmer.Thank you all recipes. com!!
08/11/2013
I made this for a recent party. I halved the maple syrup simply still found the sauce not what I enjoy to call a "BBQ" sauce. It was okay...and the chicken was very moist, but I call up I will proceed looking. Cheers anyways.
02/03/2012
Came out a little dry out.
06/25/2012
Great
01/02/2013
Delicious!
ten/13/2014
My whole family loves this recipe. My hubby and kids enjoy information technology on a bun, but I like it on its own with coleslaw or Texas caviar. I'g not much of a planner, and so I normally prepare it with frozen chicken breasts and it comes out perfect.
08/12/2012
This came out great and I didn't change recipe. i have iv picky eaters and they all loved it!
03/04/2015
So tasty... Honey the sweetness! Side by side fourth dimension I'thousand going to attempt making a separate container of sauce to accept to pour over sandwich subsequently it's cooked equally well.
09/thirty/2018
I subbed one/4 c of brownish saccharide for the maple syrup and a small scattering of crushed red pepper flakes instead of the cayenne and hot sauce (due to what I had on paw). It was so delicious! I didn't see the cook'southward note nigh making some other batch of sauce to put on at the end, but I would definitely recommend it if you want it saucy.
07/05/2015
This was fabulous! Chicken so tender and tasty...much better than bottled barbeque sauces. I just added some liquid smoke, to requite information technology that grilled flavor. I volition make this again and once more!
10/26/2011
Fantabulous recipe. Every bit others suggested, I used only one/4 maple syrup. I didn't need to brand a 2nd batch of sauce at the terminate as some people did. My chicken breasts were frozen and quite flat, so I had plenty of sauce in the crock at the 6 hr marking. This was a big striking with the family! Adjacent fourth dimension I'll try using 6 frozen chicken breasts, since mine were and so apartment to start.
07/06/2015
I made this for July quaternary and my family unit raved nearly the BBQ sauce. Followed the recipe exactly except cut back on the spices as my xc-year-old mother tin't tolerate besides much spiciness. Volition brand again!
07/02/2015
This is so easy and so delicious. I used 3 breasts and cooked on high for 3 hours so shredded the craven and cooked on depression for another 60 minutes or and so. I also used a trivial over a ane/4 cup maple syrup and added 1 Tablespoon corn starch to thicken. I will definitely make this again.
02/06/2012
Because all the ingredients...it was very piece of cake! I loved it...and my married man did also! Yum
10/08/2014
Admittedly amazing. I forgot to include the maple syrup, merely I used very sweetness hot sauce. Great the next day too!
07/31/2014
Non great. Way too sugariness and not tangy plenty for me. The sauce seems all wrong.
05/22/2013
Great flavour! I used 16 oz chicken and cutting the other ingredients in half.
10/29/2012
This was absolutely amazing!!! It was and then juicy, tender, and the season was seriously a part of the chicken. It wasn't similar chicken and yous added sauce on peak, the chicken WAS the sauce. Information technology was amaaaazing. Seriously. Try it. You volition LOVE information technology.
ten/24/2012
Great flavour...I used Gouldens for the mustard, and a locally produced Chipotle hot sauce. But this was the commencement time I tried this recipe, and if my results are typical, it should be called "Tedious Cooker BBQ Craven Soup". The resultant "sauce" was entirely too watery...not thick like good BBQ sauce should be. This recipe will exist a good jumping off bespeak for the side by side time.
08/03/2014
I didnt actually like the flavor as well much.
06/24/2012
Very good. The chicken shredded easily at the end of 6 hours, the sauce was equally proficient as store bought although I did add together some just to stretch it out a flake. Worth every i of the 5 stars.
03/20/2013
Loved this recipe and did not change anything. I did brand an extra batch of bbq sauce and served information technology on the side. I also made the sweetness eatery slaw recipe and some of us put that on the sandwich likewise. Delish!!!
eleven/30/2012
This was then good! It fabricated the house smell wonderful, and I had lots left over to freeze. It actually smelled so skillful I burned my oral fissure trying to sneak a taste out of the crock pot.
