I'm constantly having to rotate my (just 2) rabbits through the house so I need something that will stay put but move easily. Previously I had a cheaper version which features plastic instead of wire. It lasted longer than I feared it would, but in the end it became just more landfill. I tried, but ultimately decided it would not be easy to take apart and replace the chewed up plastic with something sturdier. Then I found this. My rabbits still chew on the wooden edges a bit but they're thick enough to last a lot longer. Love this gate, worth the price. Also have the taller version for my jumper. And here's a tip: they can be doubled up for times when you need to keep animals from having direct contact through the bars with each other, like with rabbit introductions (which are not always for the faint of heart). smj

I got this baby gate for my Australian shepherd puppy. This gate is amazing. It is very strong and sturdy. The lock slide latch holds very well. It's super tall too! I'm 5' 7" and the gate is up to my crotch when I straddle it to step over it. I can barely step over it so I know there is no way my dog will be able to get over it even when she is full grown(she's 11weeks old now). This is the perfect gate for a dog! The coated wire mesh is perfect too.

Stupid thing had an issue from day one with not wanting to open, but I was like whatever I can deal with it. So I was manually opening it by grabbing it and pulling it open rather than use the bar. Then it splintered when I went to lock it a few days in. Ridiculous. But hey, it's just bamboo, I kept using it. Until today. Now it's in splinters on my lawn, after I fell on it, it's really hard to get over it if your a short human, great for kids. Not great for adult short people. Yes I could have taken it down versus try to step over it, but damn. I was sick of having to manually go down on my hands and knees to open this stupid thing. Wish it was sturdier wood. Wish the damn locking mechanism had worked. Wish it wasn't so freakishly tall. My fault for not reading the height and build material. Read folks. It'll save you a scrape or two and a couple bucks.

1. Picture shows the rightmost and leftmost extremes being the vertical pieces of wood, but they are actually the horizontal pieces of wood, which extend over and past the vertical side pieces. Why is this worth knocking a star off? Read next two items.
2. Picture shows the gate's rubber bumpers pressed right up against both sides, and the text emphasizes no tools required. But the instructions (such as they are) say that the gate MUST be used with wall sockets (which means, no the gate cannot be installed without messing with your walls) and by the way they are NOT included, so while while it is technically true you don't need to buy any additional tools, the implication that you don't need to buy anything else at all is patently false.
3. On the side where the lock bar hinge is, the lock bar extends past the edge and will dig into your drywall. For me it is not an issue because I only have one drywall to contend with, the other side being a sturdy hardwood stair post, and if the gate is turned properly (with the release bar on the other side from the child/pet) then it isn't facing the drywall and therefore it is a non-problem. But that was the luck of the draw, if the drywall and stair post had been switched or if both sides had been drywall, the locking bar would have dug right into the drywall. Why would they design the gate so that it would almost certainly dig into your drywall? Well, if the pressure points were buried inside wall caps (you know, the wall caps that are not included and not mentioned anywhere in the product page) then that would have increased the gap and not been a problem.

Without the wall caps, the top and bottom pieces of wood come perilously close to the drywall; if your opening is not completely square, one or the other is going to dig into the wall. The instructions warn that without wall caps a child could knock the gate down, and I definitely see how that could happen. I am going to keep it, as it will work for me (only very occasionally will we have our grandchildren over and they will be under surveillance, plus if you whack the gate the two sets of wire fencing make a racket knocking into each other which, while for some people might be a minus, for us is a plus as it's sort of a built-in alarm that somebody is trying to force their way past the gate). But if you were planning on using this for long-term use, the product description and photos are completely deceptive and you'd be better off with a (much!) sturdier gate whose advertisement doesn't outright lie.

I was surprised - they still make these? We had one of these a very long time ago that we used to keep our daughter from breaking her neck and always liked it.
We recently moved into a new home that has a lower level and when we're gone we put our two dogs down there so they can stay out of trouble (there's a pet door to the yard) but we didn't want them on the main level of the house. I looked at a number of gates. Most were permanently mounted and they were always there when you didn't need them. When I'm not using this gate I just lean it against a wall on the landing.
It's pretty strong. Both dogs (one 50 pounds the other 25) jump on it when we come home and it doesn't budge.

We bought this baby gate for our 55# dog. We have an invisible screen on our backdoor and I've been afraid our dog is going to blast through it at first sight of a squirrel. So this baby gate is tall enough to give me peace of mind that she won't destroy our screen. It won't keep her secure, but it slows her down and that barrier gives me a split second chance to react before she blasts through everything. It's basic in functionality, and very sturdy. It fits our 30" door just perfect with a lot more notches available for much larger doorways.

I needed an extra wide gate for my front porch. It was harder to find than I expected, but this worked perfectly! It fits in tight and is very easy to figure out.

Except now my dog realized he can fit through the bars on my porch.
